Just had to update my blog with the wonderful report from the Capital Chapter in Austin, Texas. Three of their dedicated members recently participated in another Career Day event. The "Career Connections Seminar" was primarily for military spouses but also included clients of Workforce Solutions of Central Texas. The event was co-sponsored by the Ft. Hood Army Community Service - Employment Readiness Branch.
These three chapter members were Monica Crocker, CMT, Marilyn Campbell, CMT, and Kathy Muelker, CMT [a brand new CMT, I might add!]. These women represented the medical transcription profession as well as AHDI simultaneously with two of our most important initiatives -- WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT and MILITARY SPOUSE OUTREACH. They even set up a laptop for attendees to register online at the AHDI military spouse database [once again, thinking outside the box]. The attendees at this event totaled approximately 60, an excellent turnout for a cold and rainy Friday -- see photo....
Bravo to the Capital Chapter of AHDI for once again going the extra mile for our association!

Thank you, Betty, for your recognition of these dedicated members of the Capital Chapter. They have represented us more than once at these types of events, and the goal is to get the word out there about the field of medical transcription and AHDI to people who probably have never heard the information. Plus, it is exposure to the organizers of these events, and who knows how far that can go? Again, thank you, and for all that you continue to do.
Barbara Rasmussen, CMT, President, Capital Chapter of AHDI
